There exists a plethora of terms for the technique whereby a player protects the ball from the challenge of a defender by turning his back to his opponent and dragging the ball twice with either boot to take it beyond him.

The technique was perfected by France icon Zinedine Zidane who bamboozled midfielders for years with the move.

And Dublin’s own Graham Burke summoned the footballing spirit of the Juventus and Real Madrid legend by pulling off the technique twice in the same dribble during Notts County’s 3-2 win over Luton Town at the weekend.

Burke, 21, is a striker and while he may not be near Martin O’Neill’s squad right now, he may be someone worth keeping an eye on in the coming seasons.
