An eye for an eye… a spit for a spit?
Fans at the Mendizorroza for the La Liga clash between Atletico Madrid and Deportivo Alaves witnessed an absolutely vile incident.
The game itself, a goalless draw, will undoubtedly be lost in the media coverage as Atletico’s Diego Godin and Deyverson of Alaves stole the show with their spitting war that took place on the pitch.
The Brazilian kicked it all off by firing the first loogie towards Godin as both teams were setting themselves up for a free kick. His shot of saliva hit its intended target of Godin’s face. The Uruguayan looked visibly angry as he gazed down at the stream hanging from his chin.

The spit struck a real nerve with Godin,who decided at that moment to give Deyverson a taste of his own medicine.
Seething with each step, the Uruguayan hopped back over towards Deyverson and responded in an equally disgusting fashion by spitting straight at him.

The incident, which occurred during the final play of the game, was picked up by the TV cameras. This footage captured is irrefutable evidence of both players’ involvement, and the authorities are sure to hand them a punishment the crime deserves.
