VINES: Fernando Torres scored two actual, real-life goals tonight

This is not a joke!

“Don’t call it a comeback I’ve been here for years!”

That’s probably what Fernando Torres was squealing in excited Spanish as he saw his first goal fly in after just 50 seconds when Atletico Madrid took on Real Madrid this evening.

The Spaniard, who has been under scrutiny for about 30 years now, shut the mouths of many Chelsea supporters by showing what he’s still capable of doing.

Torres’ Atletico were defending a 2-0 lead from last week’s Copa del Rey round of 16 first leg when El Nino fired home but the reigning champions clawed their way back into the contest with a Sergio Ramos header.

But Torres, who is on loan from AC Milan, duplicated his first half magic by scoring just a minute after the break with this effort.

Before we knew it, the forgotten man of Spanish football was on a hat-trick but manager Diego Simeone took Torres off at the hour mark to preserve his legs for Sunday’s game against Granada.

And despite Real Madrid going on to level the match, the La Liga champions went through to the quarter finals 4-2 on aggregate but the greatest victory came with the proof that Fernando Torres is most definitely back!
