Irishman buries left-footer

A quick glance to see if Ronald Koeman was watching, perhaps.

Shane Long finally got a start up top tonight for Southampton and he wasted no time in making a solid case for himself.

The Republic of Ireland international has found himself pushed wide for most of this season but, leading the line against Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich, he squeezed home this terrific effort to fire the travelling Saints ahead.

With tackles flying in inside the penalty area, Long ended the madness with a sweet first-time finish off his left.

Check this bad boy out.
