Video: Michael Owen reaches new levels of Partridge-ness in whiskey ad

The warrior spirit is strong in Mr Boring

How did he contain the excitement

Michael Owen comes in for some fairly harsh criticism for his monotone voice, inane observations and generally just being a massive pain-in-the-you-know-what when there’s football on telly.

Just last week he claimed that life under Tony Pulis was so boring at Stoke that it was a reason behind him quitting the game at 34, which is a damning indictment of the baseball capped one.

However, Owen has firmly wrested back the crown as the most bland man in sport with this frankly golden ad for Spey whiskey.

Clearly the casting director wanted someone exciting and dynamic to really push the brand forward in a new market. Perhaps he had seen Owen’s recent effort at trying to flog cars.

If this does not make you feel instantly better then you may not be human.

That ‘Shush’ will live with us for a long time…
