Manchester City have a new League Cup hero this evening.
The club’s second choice goalkeeper Willy Caballero kept out three Liverpool spot-kicks in a dramatic penalty shoot-out this afternoon at Wembley to help his side to success.
Manchester City took an early lead before Liverpool struck home a late equaliser with the game deadlocked at 1-1 until the drama of spot-kicks.
The Argentinean proved the hero as he kept out penalty efforts from Lucas, Philippe Countinho and Adam Lallana, while Simon Mignolet was unluckly to see several efforts beat him.
All that meant that if Yaya Toure scored his spot kick, City would be champions.
Unfortunately, no one told the 34-year-old goalkeeper that, and as Yaya reeled away to celebrate his shot hitting the back of the net and the cup for City, Willy was left shaking his finger at the midfielder.
Innocence is a wonderful thing though as his team-mates mobbed him, while Yaya was left on his own.
