To say that Jeff Stelling got a little over-excited after Hartlepool scored yesterday would be an understatement
The Soccer Saturday host went absolutely berserk after Joe Ironside gave his beloved club Hartlepool the lead against Oxford. Stelling began dancing and gyrating frantically in the studio like a lunatic.
However, his overzealous celebration proved to be a costly mistake as it caused him to become microphoneless during the live broadcast. Ever the professional, Jeff managed to keep the show going by leaning over Matt Le Tissier and screaming into his mic. Nice save, Jeff. That’s some quick thinking.
Unfortunately, his showboating proved to be a bit premature. Danny Hylton found the net in the second half to earn the away side a point. It means that Hartlepool have gotten just one point in their last five fixtures and are still languishing at the bottom of League 2.
