VIDEO: Former Liverpool starlet Nathan Eccleston scores on Hungarian league debut

Tom Victor

There was a time when Liverpool fans had very high hopes for Nathan Eccleston.

The Manchester-born forward tore up trees for the Reds at youth team level, before making his full debut for the club as a teenager.

But things didn’t work out for him at Anfield, and he had fallen off the radar of many fans before suddenly rocking up at everyone’s second favourite club, Hungarian side Békéscsaba.

After signing a permanent deal with the club and proving his match fitness, the 25-year-old made his debut over the weekend.

And Eccleston’s goalscoring form clearly hasn’t deserted him completely, as he rounded the Paksi SE goalkeeper to score the opener in a 2-0 win.

Békéscsaba remain bottom of the Hungarian top-flight, but their first away win since August gives them a fighting chance of survival.
