VIDEO: Eamon Dunphy rolled out all the great cliches to praise Messi’s performance last night

You could set your watch to it

Eamon Dunphy predictable,never

We’ve been warned twice already this morning about the big pile of drool we’ve left beside our desks watching and re-watching that incredible Lionel Messi double from last night’s win over Bayern Munich.

Jerome Boateng is still trying to untangle himself from the ankle breaking turn for the second, while Manuel Neuer is busy removing all the egg from his face after some pretty stupid pre-match comments about the Argentine

The internet went into full ‘Nevgasm’ mode on Twitter and elsewhere  and the lads on RTE were very much in the same boat.

Eamon Dunphy was especially taken by the performance and decided to roll out his favourite way of describing any player-by comparing them to Irish sports stars such as Brian O Driscoll,Henry Shefflin and Ruby Walsh.

We’ve heard it all before but AP McCoy also got a mention in the long list of the greats that really lit a fire in Dunphy’s brain.

If last night’s praise sounds familiar then you wouldn’t be wrong as it’s almost two years exactly since Eamon brought the Kilkenny man and BOD into a debate about Messi’s greatness in the wake of the 2013 Champions league hammering by Bayern Munich

Don’t ever change Eamon.
