Real Madrid’s talismanic striker has been in sensational form all year and he capped it off wonderfully by breaking the La Liga hat-trick record yesterday. His trio of goals against Celta Vigo marked his 23rd hat-trick in Spain’s top flight, which is an incredibly feat.
However, there was one moment during the match that the Portuguese captain should not be proud of. He went down in a heap inside the penalty area to win a penalty and subsequently put his side up 1-0. However, you don’t even have to look at the replay to see that the defender was nowhere near him when we went crashing down to the turf as if he had been shot.
If the referee had his wits about him he would have handed CR7 a yellow card and given a free out for these histrionics. His jersey was pulled slightly but nowhere near enough to warrant that reaction. Shocking stuff!
