Man United have plan to avoid €70m price tag for Victor Osimhen

This makes sense.

It looked certain that Victor Osimhen would be heading to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal this summer, but the move fell through at the last minute.

The 26-year-old is one of the most in demand strikers in the world, and rightly so, given his 37 goals in 41 games for Galatasaray this season.

Man United are in desperate need of reinforcements up front, given the lack of quality shown by Rasmus Hojlund since his arrival at the club.

However, the Turkish side have put a €70m price tag on the Nigerian, and with the Financial Fair Play rules, Ruben Amorim cannot spend too highly.

But reports from England suggest that they will find a way around this by offering up Joshua Zirkzee in a swap deal.

The Dutchman has shown flashes of his skills at the club, but a reliable goal scorer would be much more valuable.

Last month, Amorim offered an insight into his transfer strategy.

He said: “We always prepare two plans. With and without the Champions League. Without the Champions League, we also don’t need a big squad.

“We can control the squad in a better way. Then we have a plan, that is to bring in some new players, but our big plan is to improve the team we have, to improve the Academy.

“It was the past, so it can be the future. It can’t change much because of Financial Fair Play, we are not allowed to do much, even with the Champions League, so we are prepared. It’s important to stick together.

“We are going to struggle, it’s not going to be everything right away, but I can see the team improving and that’s the most important thing.”
