Victor Lindelöf is not all about defending.
Manchester United’s new centre-back Victor Lindelöf wants to become the club’s next free-kick specialist.
The 22-year-old may be known chiefly for his defensive prowess but he insists he can be a threat at the other end of the pitch.
Lindelöf, a €35m signing from Benfica, is expected to start the season alongside Eric Bailly and he told MUTV that he also has plans to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham when it comes to dead-ball situations.
“I’m quite good at them so if I get an opportunity to take a free-kick, I think I’ll be there,” the Swedish international told MUTV.
Lindelöf may face some competition from the likes of Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata when it comes to free-kicks, but Jose Mourinho knows he can never have too many options.
If this effort against Sporting is anything to go by, they could be on to a hell of a secret weapon.

One man that’s not too impressed by the news of Lindelöf’s move to Manchester is Ray Wilkins.
Having represented the likes of AC Milan, Rangers and United during his own playing days, Wilkins’ opinions on all things football are regular sought after by the media. As well as bickering with Sun journalists on talkSPORT radio, he appears frequently on Sky Sports News. This was the case again on Monday, as he was invited to the SSN studios to talk transfers.
Wasting no time at all, Wilkins made clear that United should have moved for Burnley centre-half Michael Keane – a former United player – instead of Lindelöf, stating that the Swede had done nothing in his career to justify the hefty price tag on his young shoulders.
