Twitter glitch delays Carabao Cup but Manchester United get best draw

Darragh Murphy

And they say nobody cares about the League Cup…

The draw for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals is going down today and while most felt that the event would pass by with just an indifferent shrug from neutrals, it turns out that there are far more supporters eager for the results than you’d have probably expected.

The draw was initially scheduled for 4pm but 4pm came and went and the minutes continued ticking on by without a ball selected by Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson. Don’t ask us why they were there.

Fans of Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, West Ham, Leicester, Bournemouth and Bristol City were all on tenterhooks before, at 4.20pm, the competition’s official sponsors revealed that the delay would continue until 5pm.

WTF???

A technical glitch with Twitter, where the draw would be streamed live, saw a postponement which rocked the footballing world like news of Lionel Messi being murdered by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cries for Rod Stewart’s surprise arrival, complaints of piss-taking and (perish the thought) threats of boycotting Carabao, whatever that is, confirmed something that took us by complete surprise.

People actually give a shit about the Carabao Cup… Or the draw at the very least.

It took one hour and 50 minutes for the draw to finally be made but here it is:

Chelsea v Bournemouth
Arsenal v West Ham
Leicester v Man City
Bristol City v Manchester United
