VIDEO: Turkish player fourth man sent off after giving referee the red card

Down to seven men...

Ben Kenyon

A Turkish Super Lig match between Galatasaray and Trabzonspor descended into utter chaos when a player showed the referee the red card.

We’re not talking metaphorically in any way – he literally showed the referee the red card and was promptly sent off himself for the insubordination.

It happened after his side gave away an 87th minute penalty with the game balanced at 1-1.

Galatasary striker Umut Bulut appeared to fist pump at the decision which wound up the Trabzonspor players, resulting in Luis Cavanda shoving the ref and being given his marching orders.

He was the third Trabzonspor player to be sent off in the game – however, amid the chaos, the referee dropped his red card.

But Salih Dursun picked it up and flashed it at the referee which quite predictably resulted in another sending off, putting Trabzonspor down to seven men for the remainder of the game.

Before you ask – there has to be five players sent off before a game can be forfeited.

On a side not, Galatasary then went on to convert the penalty and win the game 2-1.

Never a dull moment in the Turkish Super Lig.
