Troy Parrott scored twice for AZ Alkmaar in the opening 55' seconds of the game. However, the earliest of the two strikes was ruled out for offside before he replied immediately.
This minute of madness all unfolded in Alkmaar's Eredivisie clash with Feyenoord. The Dubliner capitalised on a mistake by the Feyenoord goalkeeper, Timon Wellenreuther who misjudged a clearance by an Alkmaar player - Parrott then fired into an open net. (You can see the disallowed goal below).
To Parrott's dismay the goal was ruled out due to the striker being in an offside position when the clearance was made by his teammate Sven Mijnans.
On the ensuing freekick, Feyenoord were victims of their own doing again seconds later as Wellenreuther attempted to play out from the back. The German, knocked by his earlier error proceeded to play his defence into an awkward position and AZ won the ball back high up the pitch.
Parrott who is enjoying the form of his life was played in on the resulting interception and cleverly lifted the ball over the German goalkeeper to wheel away in celebration and leave the Feyenoord fans and players in disbelief.
Premier Sports commentator, Rob Daly was left in disbelief: "This time it does count - extraordinary! He's had the ball in the back of the net twice in 55 seconds".
One user on X praised the hero status of Parrott, "He is a living legend. Not many you can say that about."
The match would end up finishing 1-1 as Feyenoord fought back to secure a draw. Nonetheless that was Troy Parrott's 30th club goal of the season as he continues on the upward trajectory of his career.
