Troy Parrott included in Mick McCarthy’s latest Ireland squad

Tottenham Hotspurs forward Troy Parrott has been included in Mick McCarthy’s latest Ireland squad ahead of the Boys in Green’s upcoming matches with Switzerland and Bulgaria.

Ireland have a UEFA EURO 2020 European Qualifier against Switzerland on September 5, followed by a Three International Friendly against Bulgaria five days later.

Stoke City’s Nathan Collins, Doncaster Rovers midfielder Kieran Sadlier and Parrott are the three new faces included while there has been a recall for Crystal Palace midfielder James McCarthy who has not played for Ireland since October 2016.

McCarthy has named a 40-man squad for the two games and insists the reason for such a large squad is due to the potential for injury within the squad.

“I dont know what’s going to happen between now and the next couple of games,” the former Wolves boss told the FAI website. “We’ve got Saturday games, Tuesday games, Saturday and then the Saturday before me meet up. Players could get injured before we meet up.”
