So… United sign three players in a couple of days and they’re linked with 21 more.

It seems the Old Trafford gates have not closed and they won’t until Louis van Gaal fills out his squad with all the superstars of the day.

First up, Manchester United are looking to continue their raid of Bayern Munich, not fully satisfied with just Bastian Schweinsteiger. Polish front man, Robert Lewandowski, is next on and top of the agenda for last season’s fourth-place finishers with the boss being given a reported £300m to splash on strengthening his team ahead of next season. And what could be more appealing to a 26-year-old who hit 25 goals in his first season at Bayern than the prospect of replacing prestigious outgoing strikers like Falcao and van Persie on the United bench? (Daily Telegraph)

But Manchester United will need to put the brakes on as far as Sergio Ramos is concerned. Real Madrid president, Fiorentino Perez has insisted that the Spaniard is a player who cannot leave. Well, he says that now but wait until he takes a disliking to his height and starts a five-year smear campaign in the media against him – allegedly. (Marca)

Over to the east of the city and Manchester City are expecting to welcome Raheem Sterling for a medical today ahead of his £49m move from Liverpool. Yes, £49m. (Sky Sports)

And Manchester City aren’t finished there. Former Chelsea midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, is on his way from Wolfsburg as soon as the clubs agree a deal. This could take a while though if the Germans see how much City forked out for 20-year-old Sterling. ‘Show me the money’ springs to mind. (Daily Telegraph)

Liverpool have competition for Aston Villa striker, Christian Benteke – some of their fans will be happy to hear. English rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, are believed to be in the chase for the Belgian as well who is on a pre-season camp in Portugal with Tim Sherwood (the rest of them are there, too). Villa are holding out for the £32.5m release clause though so if the ‘Pool want him, they will have only £6.2m left of their money for Sterling after QPR get their cut. (The Express)

Aston Villa v Liverpool - FA Cup Semi-Final

Newcastle United meanwhile are said to have joined the race for Spurs winger, Andros Townsend. Villa and Sunderland fans everywhere breathe a huge sigh of relief as their interest in the player is met with serious competition. (Daily Star)

Brendan Rodgers might have just gone off the notion of playing Emre Can as his holding midfielder with reports in Spain suggesting that Liverpool are on the hunt for Inter Milan’s Gary Medel. The tough-tackling Chile midfielder played with Cardiff two seasons ago and was a regular at the San Siro last year. Along with Milner and Henderson, the 27-year-old could add real steal to the Anfield backbone.

Oh, and Manchester United are interested in a player apparently. He’s well-known, he’s well-paid, he’s coming to Old Trafford along with the rest of them. Edison Cavani is also believed to be on the United wishlist with TalkSPORT reporting that the PSG striker is a “prime target” of Louis van Gaal. They’re all prime targets.

Manchester United might also be EITHER: looking for a new ‘keeper or just keeping David De Gea with Victor Valdes having been dropped from their tour of the USA.
