Transfer Talk; Coleman to Manchester United, Carvalho to Arsenal and Liverpool fancy Villa duo

A busy day of football kicks off with some succulent rumours

Some crackers in the papers today

Today’s papers don’t make for good reading if you’re an Everton fan. Reports that Roberto Martinez is under serious pressure to keep his job are dotted across the press and as if that wasn’t bad enough for Toffees, one of their top-class full backs is linked with a move away.

The Star say that Donegal’s own Seamus Coleman is a £25m target for Louis van Gaal but Jose Mourinho also fancies him at Chelsea. Whatever way you look at that snippet, it is bad news for Everton and tremendous news for Seamie’s bank manager and agent.

The Manchester United news doesn’t end there either. The already boring Gareth Bale to United stories simply won’t go away. Yesterday it was suggested that a proposed  Marco Reus’ move to Real Madrid would be the trigger for the Welshman to go but today there is a new angle.

The Sunday Mirror say that Real Madrid will accept David de Gea as part payment to ensure the move goes ahead. The Spanish club, understandably, see the keeper as a key player and it seems they are willing to give up the flying former Spurs man to get him.

Manchester United v Everton - Premier League

Want more Manchester United rumours? Okay then, how about Adnan Januzaj, who only yesterday was supposed to be off to PSG, is now linked with a loan to Everton, according to the Sunday People.

One more? Okay, former star defender Nemanja Vidic may be on his way back to Old Trafford as his move to Inter Milan has gone south. The Star say that with the Serbian out of favour under Roberto Mancini, van Gaal may swoop in to nab the veteran on a free in January.

Away from United, there are lots of other juicy bits of gossip. The Star say that Liverpool want to raid Aston Villa for Fabian Delph and Ron Vlaar, and they hope to get the pair for £15m in the summer.

The big news in the Mail on Sunday surrounds Arsenal and another player who is familiar to the pages of football rumours. They say that Sporting’s William Carvalho is in talks with Arsene Wenger over a £20m move to the Emirates. The defensive midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League for ages now but with Sporting out of the Champions League the Portuguese club may ‘cash in’.

Stoke City v Arsenal - Premier League

The 22-year-old is exactly the sort of player the Gunners need, which means the deal probably will fall through. And while we are on the subject of Arsenal the Sun say that Tomas Rosicky may be off to Olympiakos next month for a cut-price £2m.

Finally, the Express say that Liverpool are trying to ship Fabio Borini out to Lazio and they hope to get midfielder Ogenyi Onazi in return. Considering Borini’s dogged refusal to leave before, we wish Brendan Rodgers all the best with this move.
