Transfer round-up: Manchester United and Chelsea to battle for Seamus Coleman

£25 million isn't bad for the lad from Donegal

Kevin McGillicuddy

After a leaky autumn for many sides it’s time to sort out a few defences with managers on the hunt for bargains

Top of the wanted list for many clubs is Seamus Coleman who has been attracting interest from big spending Chelsea and Manchester United.

We’d love to see the Donegal man ply his trade in the Champions League but Everton will be desperate to keep onto the right-back, who has once again been one of the club’s top performers despite a fairly poor season for the club so far.

According to the Daily Star the small matter of £25 million would prise him away from Goodison.

Sunderland v Everton - Premier League

David Moyes is looking increasingly to the Premier league for players that might be able to kick-start his reign in Spain with Real Sociedad.

And weirdly Liverpool could be his first destination with Germany’s Emre Can top of his wanted list.

The midfielder played a crucial role in securing a 1-0 win over Burnley as a late substitute centre-half, and Moyes feels that he would be an ideal player for his squad.

According to the Daily Mirror the Scot is watching the situation at Anfield closely and might be able to tempt Brendan Rodgers with a loan move:

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool - Premier League

Arsenal’s leaky defence might be getting a new stopper but it’s not quite the big name signing many would be hoping for.

West Ham are apparently the team that can save Arsene Wenger from further heartache and having just beaten the Hammers it now looks like their London rivals are about to steal one of their defenders.

Reports from the Daily Mail suggest that Winston Reid, who is out of contract in the summer, would make a fine addition to their squad for £4 million pounds.

West Ham United v Swansea City - Premier League

Who doesn’t love a good bargain in the after Christmas sales.

Well we’re not sure if you would call £23.5million a bargain but Liverpool certainly have their chequebook out and are looking to spend.

The Metro is reporting that West Brom’s young hotshot striker Saido Berahino could be on his way to Anfield.

The England frontman did start the season well, but has had a few disciplinary issues.

He and Mario Balotelli  in the same dressing room should keep writers at local newspapers in Liverpool busy at least.

Queens Park Rangers v West Bromwich Albion - Premier League

Aston Villa are already preparing for life without Fabian Delph and are seeking his replacement.

The 25-year-old is wanted by Liverpool and Tottenham among others and has been about one of the few positives from Villa’s season so far.

According to the Daily Mirror  Paul Lambert is resigned to losing him, but feels that Fulham’s Lasse Vigen Christensen might be an able replacement for around the £5million mark.
