Tottenham reportedly preparing talks with Manchester United over Anthony Martial
The club are prepared to step up their interest in the Frenchman
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to hold talks with Manchester United over the possibility of signing Anthony Martial from their Premier League rivals.
The France international has experienced a difficult season at Old Trafford, falling behind in the pecking order after the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal and failing to find form when reintroduced into the team.
His failure to establish himself in the United team on a continued basis also led to his omission from France's squad for this summer's World Cup in Russia, a decision which was widely accepted and agreed with due to the 23-year-old's lack of impact this season.
He has been frequently linked with moves away from the club, and reports in the Daily Mail suggest that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is willing to make the former AS Monaco man his primary target for the summer.
It is not yet known how much Tottenham are willing to offer for him, but the fact that he will not be present with Didier Deschamps' side for this summer's tournament suggests that a deal could be conducted before the tournament ends.
Pochettino's summer recruitment drive will likely focus on attacking reinforcements, after once again receiving accusations of being over-reliant on star striker Harry Kane last season.
