Liverpool are one of the few Premier League teams to not announce their new kit for the 2025/26 season.
With a month to go until kick off, Liverpool are still wearing the Nike kit they wore in their Premier League title success last year, and will be using the old kits in their upcoming friendly with AC Milan.
The squad has already jetted out to Asia and they will be taking both last season’s and the as-yet-unrevealed kit for next year with them.
The club store in Liverpool is remarkably empty, with very little stock of the Nike shirt and training range left, and it will still be a few weeks until fans can get their hands on kits for the 2025/26 season.
The reason is because Liverpool’s contract with current kit supplier Nike has come to an end and a new deal with Adidas reportedly worth £70m a season will begin in August.
The two sport brands are huge rivals in the football kit world and it means Liverpool cannot sell the new Adidas shirt until the Nike contract ends.
The club is preparing the club shops for the Adidas kit launch but fans will not be able to buy the new shirt until early August.
The new Liverpool shirt has been leaked ahead of the launch and if it is accurate it shows a lighter red than the current Nike design, with some small white features reminiscent of the mid-2000s shirts worn by the likes of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.
When the Adidas shirt does arrive it will not be the only item stocking the shelves of the Liverpool megastores. Adidas has ranked Liverpool as an ‘Elite’ club and that means it will get the full Adidas merchandise experience.
Adidas ‘Elite’ clubs get worldwide shipping for their shirts and long-sleeve player versions. Clubs not on the Elite tier get templated kits, while Elite clubs also get large ranges of track suits, t-shirts and jackets.
Liverpool fans can expect retro shirts, the use of Adidas’ exclusive Trefoil logo on merchandise and special edition kit and trainer launches throughout the season. It is the same deal offered to Manchester United and Real Madrid as part of the Adidas stable of Elite clubs.
