Gary Neville has seen enough of this.
Neville is one of the best analysts around, he’s a club legend but above all he’s a United fan and every moment spent analysing his team’s struggles cuts him as deep as it does those at home watching.
Another Sunday, another listless display from Jose Mourinho’s men and Neville, on commentary duty for Sky Sports, summed up the current sense of confusion and lack of direction that defines this team almost every occasion they go out these days.
With Sadio Mane after slotting Liverpool into a 1-0 lead early on in Anfield after a period of dominance for Jurgen Klopp’s men, Neville had seen enough to know that none of these United players have a clue what they’re supposed to be doing in the team.
“They’re all over the place, it’s like Spaghetti Bolognese when you’re watching them,” he said.
Though it was an unorthodox description, it perfectly encapsulates where the team are right now. Loose, unpredictable and all over the shop.
There’s no consistency, there are new players playing in unfamiliar positions every second game and it’s no surprise that players are struggling for confidence as a result.
And Neville’s description went down a treat on Twitter.
If Man Utd were spaghetti bolognese. pic.twitter.com/E4Jc890oNU

Comparing Utd to spaghetti bolognese – such an insult to Italian cuisine! 😂 https://t.co/0zUwFGlglF

Good, but not quite accurate. A spaghetti bolognese covers everything (at least when I eat it). If you are looking for on point punditry, more bruschetta than pasta so far.
