Is he the most under-rated manager in England?
Brighton and Hove Albion are all but certain to play in the Premier League for the first time next season, following their victory over Wigan Athletic on Monday afternoon.
The Seagulls’ 2-1 win over the Latics means they will be promoted on Monday evening if Huddersfield fail to beat Derby County.
Even if Huddersfield do win that game, Brighton have a goal difference vastly superior to their Championship rivals’.
There was a lot of love for former Ireland international Chris Hughton on Twitter on Monday evening.
The former Newcastle, Birmingham and Norwich City boss is one of the most under-rated in English football, but that could be all about to change.
Congratulations to #bhafc. Fully deserve their promotion. Couldn't be more pleased for Chris Hughton.

Hope Brighton go up today. Good club with some good people in charge, not least Chris Hughton and Paul Barber

Delighted for Chris Hughton. One of the good guys. Hope he gets to step into John Giles' shoes some day. pic.twitter.com/DoeK4AzdFY

Chris Hughton has turned Brighton from relegation candidates to (effectively) champions in just two seasons. What a job he's done.
