Rangers are not finished with their summer business by any means.

Gers have already undergone something of a squad overhaul after the arrival of new manager Steven Gerrard but they are eager to bring in two more new faces before his first season in the Scottish Premiership gets underway on Sunday.

Gerrard wants to sign another striker as well as a left-sided centre-half before their trip to Aberdeen this weekend.

Rangers have been linked with a move for Hearts forward, Kyle Lafferty, as well as young Manchester City defender, Kean Bryan, but Gerrard has admitted that his club is no longer pursuing the latter.

“I have nothing to say about it. He [Lafferty] is a Hearts player and the Bryan deal is finished,” Gerrard said, via the Sun.

“We have loads of targets that we have been monitoring. I need a centre-half and a striker.

“Am I hopeful before Sunday? I hope it is tomorrow. I’m in a rush.”

It’s been reported that Rangers pulled out of the deal for Bryan, who impressed alongside Gerrard’s cousin, Anthony Gerrard, at Oldham last term, after the 21-year-old’s medical.

Gerrard has already completed the signing of 10 new players and returning goalkeeper Allan McGregor has wasted no time in winning over the Liverpool legend.

“Allan has been fantastic. He is like a captain and a leader,” Gerrard said of the veteran stopper.

“He knows what this club is all about and he doesn’t need a manager — he manages himself.

“He makes sure his standards are top every day and I am absolutely delighted with him.

“The other two lads are pushing him. I don’t really like naming my keepers one, two and three. I just like having three keepers  I trust but, unfortunately, it’s impossible to keep all three happy.

“We’re really happy with our defensive shape and organisation but it’s still going to take time.

“We’re not the finished team or squad by any means.”
