STATS: A West Ham defender has equaled the fastest speed recorded in the Premier League this season

We did not expect this, not even a little bit

When you think of pacy right backs, you’d be led to believe that Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne or Manchester United’s makeshift full-back Antonio Valencia would top the list.

Well you’d be wrong. Apparently last weekend, it was West Ham’s on-loan defender Carl Jenkinson who matched the fastest speed recorded by any player in the Premier League this season.

The right back, on loan from Arsenal, reached a speed of 35.3 km/h during the Hammers’ 0-0 draw with QPR at the weekend according to stats from PremierLeague.com.

That pace equaled that of Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko who clocked up 35.3 km/h earlier this season.

The fastest five recorded speeds of the campaign thus far are.

1. Carl Jenkinson – 35.3 km/h

2. Moussa Sissoko – 35.3 km/h

3. Moussa Sissoko (again) – 35.2 km/h

4. Leandro Bacuna – 35.2 km/h

5. Wilfried Zaha – 35.2 km/h
