Thousands of Scotland fans had travelled down to London for their side’s clash with England.
Scottish fans have stayed behind and helped the clean-up effort after thousands descended on London to watch the match between England and Scotland.
In a classic example of the match not living up to the hype and pre-match excitement, the old rivals played out an uninspiring 0-0 draw at Wembley, a result that keeps Scotland’s hopes of reaching the last 16 alive and left Gareth Southgate’s side with plenty of questions to answer.
Thousands of fans congregated in and around Leicester Square, determined to cheer their side on. Unsurprisingly though, piles of litter were left across the capital with streets covered in plastic bags, drinks bottles and other rubbish.

However a number of fans decided to get involved in the clean-up, with some seen using brooms and rubbish bags to clear the debris off the streets.

Despite the tens of thousands of fans that descended on London, the Met has said that only 30 arrests were made as part of the policing operation for the game. The force said that 25 people were arrested in central London, with five more arrested around Wembley.
In a tweet, the Met thanked fans for complying with officers throughout the day.
The force tweeted: “30 people were arrested as part of our policing operation for #England v #Scotland game. The majority were in central London; 5 were in the vicinity of Wembley. Thank you to everyone who complied with officers as they engaged with crowds all day and into the night.”
The final fans didn’t leave Leicester Square until 1.15am according to the Met, who also provided a break-down of the arrests.

The Tartan Army were clearly determined to enjoy themselves in the capital, as Scotland and England faced off for the first time at a major tournament in 25 years, writing another chapter in the oldest rivalry in international football.
