Sami Khedira responds to report claiming he revealed Emre Can’s next club

Well that's that then

Sami Khedira has wholly rejected claims that he shed any light on Emre Can’s playing future.

A Sports Illustrated report credited Khedira with confirming Juventus as Can’s next club, with the Liverpool midfielder holding out on signing a new contract with the Merseyside outfit.

Can has been linked with a move to Juventus for months but Khedira, who is an international compatriot of Can’s, has denied that he has any knowledge of his fellow German international’s plans.

Khedira took to Twitter to sarcastically claim that his non-existent twin brother must have been the one who let the information slip.

Can is reportedly demanding a wage increase to over £200,000-a-week to convince him to stay at Anfield and should he fail to reach an agreement with the Reds, he would be a huge loss to Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp has insisted that negotiations are ongoing with the 24-year-old although nothing has been agreed.

“We are in talks with him and it’s all good so far – apart from him signing a contract. That’s all,” Klopp said last week.

Can moved to Liverpool in 2014 and has made 162 appearances for the club. Supporters are desperate to keep hold of him and several questioned why he would want to leave after the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night.
