Jose Mourinho’s contract termination cost Manchester United a lot of money.
Manchester United’s half-yearly results have revealed that the club paid £19.6 million for the loss of former manager Jose Mourinho and his backroom staff.
The Portuguese was sacked in December after two and a half years at Old Trafford following a string of bad results.
His replacement Ole Gunnar Solskjær immediately improved things at the club going on a run of ten wins in ten games before his team capitulated to PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The loss to the club was reported as an ‘exceptional item’. A statement in their half-yearly results reads: “Exceptional items for the quarter were £19.6million, relating to compensation to the former manager and certain members of the coaching staff for loss of office.
“Exceptional items for the prior year quarter were £nil.”
