Embracing the Welsh culture in true style

Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been given a true Wrexham welcome as they were spotted doing shots with locals in a Welsh pub.

Reynolds and McElhenney clubbed together to become joint-owners of the National League side in February but due to Covid restrictions and other commitments, haven’t been able to get over to see their new project in-person.

However the pair have managed to come over this week and were in the away end to watch their side lose 3-2 to Maidenhead United, and will be at their first home game of their ownership on Saturday.

While they wait for the day, they’ve been familiarising themselves with the local culture in Wrexham, and what better way to do so than having a few at the local.

Spotted on Twitter, you can see they’ve taken to life well and look like they’ve been enjoying themselves, as they were pictured by Ben Sheppard looking in good spirits.

They may have also had more than the two on the table in the photo, with Sheppard captioning the photo: “Bouncer – ‘you lads good, had one too many?’

“Lads – ‘No la, all fine here la’.”

The night then seemed to escalate even further as they were later pictured with pictures of Reynolds and McElhenney toasting and drinking shots as they were in full on party-mode.

While some people have questioned their reasoning behind the decision to buy the club, it’s clear to see that the pair haven’t just bought the club to have a jolly.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the two explained just how good a night they had.

Reynolds said: “We got to hang out with some of the supporters and have a really good good chat with them.

“It was a privilege that I wasn’t actually expecting.”

McElhenney then added: “I was expecting to drink, but I wasn’t expecting to do multiple shots of gin, which is exactly what we did.

“They just kept lining them up and shot after shot.”

“I’m surprised we didn’t end up back here on the pitch” replied Reynolds before McElhenney responded “yeah, maybe we did!”

It looks like the two have been made to feel at home already and their first trip to Wales has been more than successful.
