“I don’t know how long he’ll be out” – Ronaldo undergoing scan today

Cristiano Ronaldo will undergo a scan on Monday to survey the extent of his ankle injury.

The Real Madrid star netted his 450th goal for the club at the Nou Camp on Sunday night during the 2-2 draw with Barcelona but, in the process, seemed to roll over his joint. But, my, it was a lovely goal all the same.

Ronaldo played on, of course he did. He picked up the injury in the 14th minute but made it to half time before he was substituted for Marco Asensio.

Naturally, the sight of the most lethal goalscorer in world football made some ears perk up around Merseyside.

With the Champions League final under three weeks away, Ronaldo has just 20 days to recover in time to face Liverpool in Kiev.

After the game, Zinedine Zidane – who reverted back to a front three and recalled Gareth Bale to the starting team – said that he’s unsure how long Ronaldo will be out and admitted that the Portugal native is a little worried.

“I don’t know how long he’ll be out,” Zidane is quoted as saying on RealMadrid.com.

“He said it wasn’t much, but we’ll see tomorrow (Monday). We’ll do some tests to see the extent of the damage done to his ankle.

“He was a little worried because it was a bit swollen, but he said that it’s nothing serious.”

Ronaldo would say that though. This is a man who is supposed to have the body of a 23-year-old. At 33, his effect shows no signs of slowing up. A lot of that he probably puts down to the fact he reportedly has a body fat percentage of 7% and muscle mass of 50% – both significantly lower and higher, respectively, than your average player.

So he’s not like normal people and that’s why he finds it harder to accept that he could just be human and one day go over his ankle. That’s why he also tried to play on in the Euro 2016 final with a cruciate knee injury but eventually had to give in.

19 days is a long time to Kiev but, regardless if he’s injured or not, Ronaldo will play because he’ll say he’s okay. Liverpool fans will just be hoping that he’s kidding himself.
