Roberto Firmino reportedly made a lot of money with brace against Swansea

The Brazilian's performance earned him comparisons with Harry Kane

Roberto Firmino reportedly earned himself a tasty Christmas bonus with his brace on St Stephen’s Day.

Firmino scored twice in the second half of Liverpool’s 5-0 thrashing of Swansea City at Anfield, providing some much-needed ship-steadying after Jurgen Klopp’s side threw away a two-goal lead against Arsenal on Friday night.

And the Brazilian’s double guaranteed him a healthy injection of cash thanks to a bonus clause in his contract.

According to reports in Germany, Firmino is entitled to €28,000 for each of his first five goals in a season, €50,000 for each of his goals between six and 10, and€73,000 from 11 to 15.

Firmino took his season’s tally to 16 on Tuesday and, in doing so, he reportedly took home more than double his weekly wage.

The 26-year-old is apparently on a basic weekly wage of €76,667 with the Reds but with his 15th goal this term earning him a bonus of €73,000 and his 16th triggering a bonus of €95,000, Firmino pocketed an additional €168,000 for his afternoon’s work.

Not too shabby…

With much of the plaudits going in the direction of both Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho throughout the season, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher reserved some glowing praise for Firmino’s importance to Klopp’s team.

“We mentioned Harry Kane at half-time,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“Is he [Firmino] as ruthless as him in front of goal? No.

“But he may even be almost as important to Liverpool as Harry Kane is to Spurs for the work he does off the ball.

“Don’t forget his role in the first goal.”
