Robbie Keane takes for Instagram and gets absolutely pelted with love

Conan Doherty

“Each and every time I put on the green jersey it is such an honour.”

Robbie Keane will play his last game for Ireland against Oman in Dublin next Friday night.

After 18 years of a record-breaking, history-making international career, the Dubliner will line out for the last time for his country and it will be an emotional night.

After announcing his retirement on Thursday afternoon, Irish folk the world over have been scrambling to find the right words to do justice for a legend who had them celebrating 67 different times.

So he gave everyone the perfect opportunity when he said goodbye on his Instagram page.

And since he did it, it has just been a stream of well-wishes and thank yous for the Ireland icon.

Except not everyone was ready to accept his decision.
