It’s almost done.
Louis van Gaal’s name on his office door has all but been replaced with ‘J. Mourinho’ as talk ramps up that the former Chelsea boss is set to succeed the Dutchman at Manchester United.
Van Gaal has come under increasing scrutiny for a relatively lackluster season at Old Trafford which will see the Red Devils struggle to make the top four.
And with Jose Mourinho available since being sacked by Chelsea in December, he’s emerged as the leading candidate to take over.
On Wednesday, Spanish sources leaked the details of Mourinho’s contract with United which is set to run up until 2019.
El Confidencial report that Mourinho will sign a three-year deal which will see him earn €20 million a year.
The report also claims that agent Jorge Mendes is working through the finer details of the contract which is said to contain “a maze of clauses,” but that all will be resolved in the coming days.
