Fred caught red-handed

Reports from Brazil tonight suggest that a very major football story may be about to break after a Brazil international was caught doping at the Copa America.

According to various reports midfidler Fred, who plays with Shakhtar Donetsk, has tested positive for the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide, which can often be used to mask the presence of other drugs.

The player is understood to have tested positive in an anti-doping screening during the Copa America in Chile earlier this summer.

It’s understood that the results of his B sample will be released on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old played the first two games in Brazil’s campaign before being dropped for the country’s final group game.

If found guilty of as doping violation he could face a world wide ban.
