PICS: Philippe Coutinho’s holiday snaps are just what Liverpool fans want to see

This might dampen down those Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona rumours.

It’s never quite reached Griezmann or Ronaldo levels but the rumours of a Barcelona move for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho have been bubbling under all summer.

It hasn’t exactly been the best off-season for the Reds so far. Their attempts to prize Mohamed Salah from Roma have proven so far unsuccessful, the signing of Virgin van Dijk collapsed when Southampton reported the Merseyside club to the Premier League and it looks like they’ll be forced to pay a premium for Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke at tribunal.

With that in mind, Liverpool fans will take any crumbs of comfort they can get and those crumbs arrive in the form of Coutinho wearing a full Reds kit on holiday back home in Brazil.

Anfield HQ is reporting that the 25-year-old has even bought the club’s new home kit for all of his family and friends back home.

Coutinho – who joined Liverpool from Inter Milan during the 2013 January transfer window – signed a five-year extension to his Anfield deal in January 2017.

He is reported to have committed his future to Jürgen Klopp and co., with the club’s German manager telling him that by staying at Anfield he can make himself into a club legend like Steven Gerrard and Kenny Dalglish, while he would only be another expensive component of a team like Barcelona, where he would be surrounded by superstars on the same level as him.

For all that, Coutinho was non-committal when quizzed about his future recently.

“Talking about this is complicated,” he said. “I have a contract with my club and it is long.

“So my focus is on the present and the national team. My focus is here.”

Coutinho enjoyed his best season on Merseyside yet last season; despite missing a chunk of the season through injury, he managed 13 goals and seven assists throughout the campaign.
