Pele reveals which Premier League club he would play for

High praise

They could do with another striker.

Pele is arguably the greatest player in the history of the game and scored 1281 goals in 1363 games during his storied career with Brazil, Santos and the New York Cosmos picking up three World Cups along the way.

The football great is opening an exhibition of artworks dedicated to him in London entitled “Art, Life, Football” and he told the Daily Telegraph that there is one Premier League club he would play for above all the others.

“Arsenal is a good team to play with,” he said. “I would play for Arsenal if I had a chance.”

Considering Olivier Giroud’s less than stellar form of late, perhaps the Gunners would welcome the 74-year-old to the club with open arms.

When asked which team he would play for in all of world football, Pele admitted he quite liked the idea of teaming up with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

“Today, Barcelona,” he added. “They are the same style as Santos and Brazil of my day. Almost the same style.”
