Paul Pogba missed the flight which took the Manchester United squad home after Wednesday night’s dramatic Champions League victory over Juventus.

Pogba played the full 90 minutes against his former club as United scored twice in the last five minutes to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat.

The French midfielder was randomly selected for drug testing at the Allianz Stadium and the delay meant that he was unable to join his teammates for the flight back to Manchester.

Manchester Evening News report that Pogba instead flew back to England with club executives and a group of fans after an emotional return to Turin.

Pogba, who has repeatedly been linked with a move back to Juve, refused to celebrate United’s winner and admitted that he missed Italian football in the moments after the game.

“Who knows? I’m with United now. There is so much talk about this, but am happy to be playing for Manchester United,” Pogba told Sky Sport Italia .

“The win was important, but the Juve fans gave me such a warm welcome.

“I didn’t celebrate when we went 2-1 up, it felt too strange. I saw so many people that I know well. We played against a great team and we really had to win.

“It was wonderful coming back here, although it felt weird going into the ‘away’ locker room. I was so accustomed to the Juve one.

“The reaction of the fans really moved me, as I missed them and Italian football. It was great to be back in this stadium, where I started out and won big trophies.”
