Paul McShane will have some Irish company at his new club

Character

Kevin McGillicuddy

Back among the workforce

Paul McShane appeared to be having a whale of a time on holidays, but quietly, and in the background the former Manchester United defender was getting his future sorted.

The ex-Hull man was released by the club at the end of last season, but today he’s put pen to paper for Reading.

The defender was linked with a number of Championship sides but has signed a three year deal at the Madejski Stadium.

The Wicklow man will also have someone to complain to about the lack of Taytos across the water, as the club have also recently acquired the services of fellow ex-Hull man Stephen Quinn.

Manager Steve Clarke has praised the 29-year old as he welcomed him to his new club

‘As well as his obvious talents as an experienced defender who is aggressive both in the air and on the ground, I felt that he was a good character to bring into our squad.’

That character probably extends to the brilliant t-shirt McShane wore to today’s announcement.
