A Nemanja Matic move to Manchester United looks to have taken one step closer

Paving the way for a move to Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho might just get his man.

It’s been clear for quite some time now that Nemanja Matic has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Antonio Rudiger and Tiemou Bakayoko. And with Cesc Fabregas being assured game time for The Blues it’s clear that Antonio Conte is willing to cash in on the Serb.

Matic didn’t travel with the team to their pre-season tour of Asia and is currently training on his own, away from the clubs training facility in Cobham.

Chelsea would prefer not to sell to a domestic rival but the player has supposedly made it clear to all of the parties concerned that United is his club of preference.

According to the Independent, Juventus, the other side who were reportedly in the race for the midfielder, have since pulled out of negotiations and have turned their attention to PSG star, Blaise Matuidi. Matuidi would cost the Serie A champions significantly less than Matic with €10 million between the two players valuations.

Mourinho has recently said that he, “would like to have two more players” and that, “one player would be a midfield player that gives me more options, more balance to the team”.

‘The Special One’ was worried he was close to losing one of his primary targets to the Old Lady, but it now looks like the deal could be one step closer to being completed.
