This is building up to be a proper cracker.

Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher will come head-to-head on March 29 in a unique charity match at Anfield that is looking more star-studded by the second.

With old attacking greats like Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez already confirmed to be making an appearance in the game organised by Liverpool FC Foundation, more big names are on the list.

The club have announced an update on player recruitment that includes the likes of Kop legends Dirk Kuyt and Xabi Alonso along with others like Didier Drogba, Thierry Henry and John Terry.

Current Liverpool players not on international duty will also be taking part.

Whilst the game is to raise funds for the local community, it is also being pitched as a special game for club captain Steven Gerrard who will leave the club in the summer.

He and Carragher will captain each side and pick their respective teams from the pool of players on offer.

Tickets are priced at £20 for adults, £5 for juniors and £15 for over 65s.
