Premier League eferee Mike Dean is set to retire at the end of the season after 22 seasons in the top-flight, as reported by the Telegraph.
The 53-year-old – who was appointed as a Select Group referee in 2000 – has officiated several high-profile matches during his career, including the FA Community Shield and the finals of the FA Cup and Football League Cup.
Dean has been at the centre of a number of controversial incidents during his time as a referee, one of which saw Arsenal supporters launch a petition to prevent him from refereeing their team following a Premier League fixture against Chelsea in 2015 – which gathered nearly 100,00 signatures in a week.
During his career, he has issued over 100 red cards and became the first official to do so in Premier League history.
