Mick Wallace was sporting Italy’s World Cup jersey in the Dáil today

The kit lasted longer on the Deputy's back than the Azzurri did in the actual tournament

The four-hour sit-in staged by Sinn Féin Deputy Mary-Lou McDonald was not the only memorable incident at Dáil Eireann today.

Independent TD Mick Wallace took his seat in the main chamber this morning and got down to business. The Wexford native happened to be nattily turned out in the World Cup jersey Italy that sported during their brief stay at the tournament this summer.

Today FM’s political correspondent Gavan Reilly was quick off the mark.

Wallace has been pictured wearing jerseys from Wexford Youths and Palermo jerseys in the Dáil in past.
