Michael Antonio explains goal celebration at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

And boy howdy did he celebrate it

Tottenham Hotspur faced West Ham United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday afternoon, hoping to extend their perfect record at their new ground.

The home side had the majority of play in the first half but as is now customary for the English teams chasing the last two Champions League spots, they ended up being extremely accommodating to their opponents.

That accommodation reached its height in the 66th minute, with West Ham increasing the pressure on Mauricio Pochettino’s side as Mark Noble marched unchallenged through central midfield.

The English midfielder then laid the ball out to Marko Arnautovic, who after an abject first half decided to turn up for the second.

The Austrian scooped a lovely ball into the channel for the oncoming Michael Antonio, who controlled the ball on his chest, composed himself, and launched an accurate volley at a tight angle past the diving Hugo Lloris.

Antonio’s cowboy/D-Generation X celebration was the perfect accompaniment and in the end it was enough for West Ham to win the game; their fifth away league victory of the season.

The forward said that he took inspiration for his celebration from Instagram influence Dan Rue.

“There’s a guy I follow on Instagram called Dan Rue and he does loads of crazy dance moves and I saw it the other day and I’ve been busting it out in a couple of clubs so I thought I’m going to have to do it out on the pitch,” Antonio told Sky Sports after West Ham’s 1-0 win.

“I like to bring something different to the game and I think it shows my love for the game and bring out my personality and that’s how I do it.”

Keep on netting and Hammers fans will be happy with just about any way he celebrates.
