Mauricio Pochettino insists Harry Kane is not for sale at any price

It's that time of year.

No matter how much actual football is happening, the world of football can't resist a good transfer rumour. The latest big money transfer to convince people the end is nigh was Virgil van Dijk's £75m move to Liverpool, announced on Wednesday 27th that will officially be completed on January 1st. Much has been made of the fee, although it's been fairly pointed out that Liverpool needed a central defender and had the money, so therefore were right to spend it. It got people thinking, if Van Dijk is worth that much as a defender, how much is Harry Kane worth? One of, if not the best striker in the world, must be worth at least double that? The question was raised to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino who did his best to put fans at rest by reiterating that he was not for sale ant any price.

"I think Harry has no price because we want him here. We can talk about many things but in the end it’s talk [for the sake of] talking because it’s impossible to put a price on him. He’s out of the market.”

One may think that surely every player has a price but it would be unwise to sell Kane as replacing him with similar quality would be almost impossible. Kane demonstrated his worth once again on Boxing Day as he scored a hat-trick against Southampton at Tottenham's temporary Wembley home, surpassing Alan Shearer's record for Premier League goals in a calendar year. With 56 goals in all competitions this season, he has 2 more than Lionel Messi and 3 more than Cristiano Ronaldo. So it is clear to see why Pochettino considers him priceless. We all know Daniel Levy enjoys a lucrative sale, though.
