Marouane Fellaini’s brother almost gave Jose Mourinho an awful fright on Saturday

The Special One's plans were almost ruined

A hotel doorman nearly accidentally sabotaged Mourinho’s game plan against Manchester United.

Mourinho prides himself on being a masterful tactician. Undoubtedly, he had been preparing his side to deal with in-form United midfielder Marouane Fellaini for their Premier League clash at the weekend.

However, Mourinho explained after the game that he nearly had to throw his game plan out the window after he received some shocking news from a hotel doorman.

“I came down in the morning and the doorman said, ‘Fellaini isn’t playing’. The doorman asked him, ‘What do you want here?’ He said, ‘I’m Fellaini and I’ve come to get tickets from my friend Eden Hazard’.

Mourinho was skeptical of the doorman’s story and he had an instant brainwave. He took out his phone to make sure his initial instincts about the man’s tale were correct.

Didn’t smell well for me. I go to Google on my phone and I put in Fellaini brother. The guy is the same. So I go with the pictures to the doorman. I say, ‘This one or this one?’ He looks, ‘This one’.

Mourinho made sure to break the news to the man that he had mixed up the Manchester United midfielder with his twin brother Mansour as delicately as he could.

‘F*** off, he’s the brother’.”
