Marcus Rashford shown straight red card after clash with Phil Bardsley

The Manchester United forward reacted badly to a tackle from Burnley's Phil Bardsley and was shown a red card for violent conduct

A shame for those with Rashford in their FPL teams.

Manchester United cruised to victory against Burnley on Sunday afternoon, with Romelu Lukaku striking twice to give the away side a comfortable lead. Marcus Rashford started from the bench but was given a chance to impress when he was brought on for Alexis Sánchez in the 61st minute. But just ten minutes after coming on, the England international was shown a red card by referee Jonathan Moss.

Rashford reacted badly after being caught in a tangle with Phil Bardsley as the defender, playing against his old club, brought the United forward down on the byline. Rashford proceeded to push his face into Bardsley, which we all know constitutes a headbutt in the world of football and was subsequently sent off.

At first, the pair appeared to disagree over how much malicious intent was behind Bardsley’s tackle.

Rashford then headbutted Bardsley.

To his credit, Bardsley did not tumble to the ground – Sean Dyche wouldn’t stand for that – but alerted the referee to what Rashford had done.

Then everybody got involved, trying to separate the two players.

And Moss had no option but to show Rashford the red card.

Oh,Marcus, you have a lot to learn still.
