Falcao has struggled with fitness since he arrived at Old Trafford and he has managed just four goals for Louis van Gaal's side since he arrived.
Add to that Falcao's enormous wages (reported to be £265,000 a week) and the cost of making the deal permanent (said to be in the region of £43million) we can understand why United have decided to say thanks but no thanks.
