Nobody knows an awful lot about the intricacies of Fifa’s reported investigation into Paul Pogba’s summer transfer to Manchester United.
Pogba returned to his former club in August for a world-record fee believed to be in the region of £89 million but, on Tuesday evening, several outlets began reporting that Fifa were set to look into the deal.

AFP first broke the news but further details in terms of what aspect of the move was being investigated remain unknown.
Everyone reading the breaking news, which popped up on social media as the Champions League semi-final second leg between Juventus and Monaco was kicking off, had their own theory on what the investigation was based on.

One of the most curious elements of the transfer is the rumoured fee that Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, is set to pocket when all is said and done as a new book published in Germany, Football Leaks: The Dirty Business of Football, claims that Raiola will make £41 million from this deal alone.
Pogba’s camp has yet to comment on the matter and Fifa have not offered any insight into why they have opened an inquiry, although they insist they have written to the Old Trafford club “to seek clarification on the deal”.
But United have issued a brief comment on the subject, essentially to say that the club does not comment on such subjects, although the suggestion from the Red Devils is that everything was above board and that Fifa have been in possession of all of the requisite paperwork ever since the deal went through.

“We don’t comment on contracts,” a United spokesman said.
“Fifa have had the documents since the transfer was completed last August.”
Pogba has scored seven goals in his 48 appearances this season since becoming the world’s most expensive player with his move from Juventus.
