Manchester United fans unhappy with FA Cup final starting XI

Not what supporters wanted to hear

Romelu Lukaku hasn’t made it.

Lukaku was in a race against time to return to fitness for Saturday afternoon’s FA Cup final against Chelsea but he’s not managed to recover.

United’s top goalscorer this term is only fit enough to make the substitutes’ bench for the clash at Wembley, having missed the last three weeks with an ankle injury.

Manager Jose Mourinho has started Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez up top in the game which will be his only chance to claim silverware this season.

And here’s the Chelsea team:

United supporters were hoping to see the powerful Belgian pass his late fitness test but it wasn’t to be and it’s not the only concerning aspect of Mourinho’s teamsheet for those fans in red.

Eric Bailly has missed out on a place in the back four, with Mourinho instead starting Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in the heart of the Red Devils’ defence.

After team news confirmed the absence of two of United’s biggest physical presences, supporters couldn’t hide their disappointment and took to social media to voice it, while the decision to leave Anthony Martial out didn’t exactly go down well either.
