Man United players reportedly view Cristiano Ronaldo as a ‘pain in the a**e’

Ronaldo is a ‘divisive’ figure in the squad.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly viewed as a ‘pain in the arse’ by his Manchester United teammates, who apparently celebrated when they were told he wants to leave the club.

Ronaldo has been looking for a move away from Old Trafford all summer but with 72 hours of the transfer window left, looks no closer to finding a new club.

The 37-year-old has been used sparingly so far this season, starting just one game (a 4-0 defeat at Brentford) and coming off the bench in the other three.

ESPN have claimed that the forward has become a ‘divisive’ figure in the squad with Ronaldo unforgiving towards his teammate for their disappointing campaign last season.

In addition, Ronaldo supposedly expects the likes of Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford to perform to the levels of Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney and is critical when they do not reach his expectations.

According to the ESPN report, “sources have said that Ronaldo has been unable to accept that the United side he rejoined was a world apart from the one he left, both in terms of the calibre of the squad and the personalities within it.”

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has been trying to secure a move away for his number one client and has tried to offer the Portugal international to the likes of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, who have all turned down the chance to sign him.

United boss Erik ten Hag has publicly stated that he wants to keep Ronaldo at the club, most recently after their 1-0 win away to Southampton last weekend.

“We played with him,” Ten Hag said. “So we want him to stay. That is what we want. I hope so.”

The Red Devils confirmed the signing of Brazilian winger Antony from Ajax and have hopes he could be included in the squad for their trip to Leicester City on Thursday night.

Midfielder Casemiro could also make his first start for the club since joining from Real Madrid.
